  2. SpliX for Ubuntu Linux

  5. This is the SpliX printer driver for Samsung's laser printers using the SPL2
  6. (monochrome) and SPLc (color) printing languages.

  8. The PPD files coming with this package (in ppd/) are generated with
  9. "ppdc" of the CUPS DDK from http://www.cups.org/ based on the
  10. instructions in the ppd/samsung.drv file. So ppd/samsung.drv is the
  11. source code of the PPDs. In addition, CUPS DDK is free software, so
  12. all requirements for the PPDs being in the main part of Ubuntu Linux
  13. are fulfilled.

  15. The ready-made PPD files are there for convenience, to not require
  16. from the user to have CUPS DDK installed. As CUPS DDK does not make
  17. part of Debian or Ubuntu yet, we use these PPDs instead of building
  18. them.
